Pravin Godkhindi born in a family of musicians, gave his first public concert at the age of 6 and held the audience spellbound. His father Pt. Venkatesh Godkhindi, an eminent vocalist and Bansuri player taught him flute in “Gayaki ang” (vocal style) of the Kirana Gharana and Pravin added the Tantrakaari / Gatkaari style to it.
Sonorous blowing, control over breath, elaboration of Raga with its aesthetic appeal, extraordinary and skillful rendition of Layakaari are a few salient features of his flute recital. Besides performing with the esteemed Jazz band SILK involving Shankar Mahadevan, Shivamani and Louis Banks, Pravin Godkhindi has also formed a fusion band Krishna which comprises three forms of music, the Hindustani, the Carnatic and Western music.
