September 28, 2018We are very happy to announce the new date for our next concert of Maestro Nayan Ghosh with Ishaan Ghosh’s ARAJ at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. Because of Covid-19, all concerts for 2020 and 2021 had to be postponed. The new date for this concert is March 11, 2022.

Born in 1956, Pt. Nayan Ghosh received in-depth training in vocal music, tabla and the Sitar from his late father Padmabhushan Pandit Nikhil Ghosh. Nayan’s elder uncle was the flautist Pandit Pannalal Ghosh. Later, he studied under Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirakwa and Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh. He also received training in Sitar and vocal music from his father Pandit Nikhil Ghosh and later learnt from Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta.
One of the most exuberant young musicians of India, Tabla virtuoso Ishaan Ghosh’s art is a unique blend of tradition & modernity. Ghosh has performed with players of Indian classical music including his father Pandit Nayan Ghosh, Pandit Jasraj, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta, Ustad Aashish Khan, Ustad Nishat Khan, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, violin legend Dr. N Rajam, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Rakesh Chaurasia and Purbayan Chatterjee.
ARAJ is an Indian classical collaboration conceptualized by Ishaan Ghosh and is a group of exceptionally gifted young North Indian classical musicians: Ishaan Ghosh on tabla; S. Akash on flute; Mehtab Ali Niazi on sitar; Vanraj Shastri on sarangi; Pratik Singh on vocals & tabla.
